There will be a change in the SOKO Cologne team, which is led in a tried and tested sympathetic way by Sissy Höfferer as Chief Inspector: we warmly welcome Pierre Besson as the newcomer to SOKO, who will go on the hunt for criminals in Cologne as Chief Inspector Matti Wagner with his colleagues Lilia Lehner, Steve Windolf and Kerstin Landsmann.

Pierre Besson has acted at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin and the Ernst Deutsch Theater in Hamburg, as well as in many television productions such as “Hindenburg,” “Der Verdacht,” “Schokolade für den Chef” and “Pommery und Leichenschmaus.” Jophi Ries, who helped shape the face of SOKO Köln for nine seasons as Frank Hansen, is leaving the team to pursue new projects.

In the very first episode of the new season, “Der letzte Einsatz” (written by Christoph Wortberg and directed by Florian Kern), which will be broadcast on October 18, 2011, events come to a dramatic head. Matti Wagner, (Pierre Besson) who has actually only joined the team as a replacement for Julia Marschall (Lilia Lehner) who is temporarily on maternity leave, will fear for the life of Frank Hansen (Jophi Ries), who has been critically injured by an unknown person while pursuing a suspect, as will his stunned colleagues.

Although there will probably be no similarly dramatic strokes of fate within the team in the further episodes of the 10th season, plenty of crime suspense is nevertheless provided. With combined forces, criminalistic intuition and dry humor, SOKO Köln once again sets out on the trail of crime and in the end convicts even those murderers who thought they would never be caught. Most of the time, it is the details that have not been considered even in the most sophisticated crime preparations. In Cologne, the criminals should never make their calculations without the SOKO Köln.

For the start of the new season, Torsten Wacker takes over the direction.
The episodes will feature Katharina Thalbach, Rudolf Kowalski, Helmut Zierl, Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen, Marleen Lohse, Roberto Blanco, Guildo Horn, Anna Böttcher, Aleksander Jovanovic, Nina Kronjäger, Ingo Naujoks, Christian Kahrmann, Tim Seyfi, Charlotte Schwab, Muriel Baumeister, Stephan Kampwirth and many others.
The producers are Catrin Kauffmann, Andi Wecker and Susanne Flor. SOKO Köln is produced by Network Movie Köln, with Wolfgang Cimera as producer. Wolfgang Witt is the editor at ZDF.
