The new film by Matti Geschonneck based on the play “Christmas Eve” by Daniel Kehlmann, who also wrote the screenplay for this film himself.

On Christmas Eve, philosophy lecturer Judith is stopped by police officer Thomas because she is suspected of having planned a terrorist attack. He has to find out the truth.

Judith wants to visit her parents when she is detained in her hotel room. Thomas is supposed to find out whether she plans to set off a bomb that evening together with her ex-husband Julian and where it is located. Judith claims her innocence.

Thomas has little time to find out the truth and the more time passes, the harder his questioning methods become. In the process, he reveals to Judith that he knows a lot about her life because of the previous surveillance: relationships, political views, her past. She persists in being innocent and repeatedly engages Thomas in a discussion about the dilemma of freedom and security. Will she confess or convince Thomas of her innocence?
