The new case takes Chief Inspector Helen Dorn from North Rhine-Westphalia to Hamburg.
The case of a boy who disappeared 14 years ago has never left Helen Dorn’s mind. She had to let the alleged perpetrator Ron Faber go, and the missing boy never turned up again.
When Helen accidentally learns from an Intrapol report that Faber has been picked up in Hamburg after an accident and that the emergency services have discovered the body of a Chinese boy in the hold of his van, she sets off headlong for the Hanseatic city.
She begins to investigate behind the backs of her Hamburg colleagues and stumbles upon a wasps’ nest of human trafficking, modern slavery and connections between Chinese triads and long-established Hamburg shipowners.
Behind the big criminal case, the inspector discovers a human drama about guilt, atonement and revenge. And Helen must realize that not only has she been chasing the wrong guy all these years, but that her investigation has also set off a deadly dynamic.
