It is a cool morning in Stralsund when a colorful Kitabus explodes on its daily route on the outskirts of the city. The column of smoke is visible for miles from the historic center.
Nina Petersen and her colleague Karl Hidde can only conclude that the driver is dead. He was burned beyond recognition. His unpunctuality had saved the life of a small boy – fortunately he would have been the first passenger. An accident? The results of the KTU investigations speak a different language. The kindergarten bus had been prepared – the technique and procedure immediately reminded Karl Hidde in particular of one of Germany’s darker chapters – similar explosives were used by the RAF in a terrorist attack in 1991, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Was the attack aimed at driver Sascha Müller personally?
Monika Beckmann, director of the municipal daycare center, tells the investigators little about Sascha, a westerner, even though he was the partner of her daughter Jeanette. For Nina Petersen and her team, the question arises: which offshoots of the terrorist organization reach into the present?
Directed by Kaspar Heidelbach, the film stars Katharina Wackernagel, Alexander Held, Karim Günes, Therese Hämer, Andreas Schröders, Johannes Zirner, Florian Bartholomäi, Hedi Kriegeskotte, Alina Levshin, Marita Breuer, Karl Kranzkowski, Peter Kremer and others. The book was written by Daniel Schwarz and Thomas Schwebel.
It is produced by Network Movie Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH & Co. KG, Cologne, Wolfgang Cimera. The editorial staff at ZDF is Martin R. Neumann. Filming in Stralsund, Hamburg and the surrounding area lasted from February 20 to March 23, 2018.
