Little Sascha Witte (Bendix Hansen) is missing. The eight-year-old is growing up in difficult circumstances with his unstable mother Stefanie (Marie Leuenberger). Sascha’s father, Jürgen Lohmann (Hinnerk Schönemann), has a criminal record, including for assaulting Sascha’s older brother Marius (Bjarne Meisel).
Inspector Winter (Natalia Wörner) and her team desperately search for Jürgen Lohmann, who has gone underground since his release from prison. Does Marius know more? Finally, Jana is able to arrest the father. But instead of reaching the goal of her investigation, everything starts all over again: Jürgen Lohmann is demonstrably innocent – and Inspector Winter discovers that a whole other abyss is opening up behind the family’s problems.
Alongside Natalia Wörner, the cast once again includes Ralph Herforth as Matthias Hamm, Martin Brambach as Arne Brauner, Max von Pufendorf as Ole Jessen and Ralph Misske as the forensic pathologist. Other roles are played by Thomas Loibl, Brigitte Zeh, Ingo Naujoks, Barnaby Metschurat, Linus Düwer and others.
The book was written by Daniel Schwarz and Thomas Schwebel (“Unter anderen Umständen – Tod im Kloster” and “Auf Liebe und Tod”), and this film is again directed by Judith Kennel. Daniel Blum is the editor at ZDF. It is produced by Network Movie Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH, Jutta Lieck-Klenke, on behalf of ZDF.
