A girl is recovered dead from the Schlei. With horror, Inspector Brauner recognizes 15-year-old Nele, daughter of a couple who are good friends. Nele’s parents do not want to believe that the dead girl is their daughter. They say she is safe at a boarding school on the Danish island of Fejö. When Jana Winter arrives there, it turns out that another student, Liv Nielsen, has disappeared without a trace.

Because of Liv’s disappearance, Detective Inspector Malte Larssen from the Copenhagen Missing Persons Bureau has already been called in. Together with Jana Winter, he now leads the investigation. Is Liv dead? What is the connection between the two cases? And what is Fenja, the best friend of the two girls, hiding?
