Jan Landers (Jan Josef Liefers) has made it: raised in East Berlin, he made a career for himself in the West after the fall of the Wall. He is a news anchor in Hamburg. Suddenly, suspicions arose: Landers had allegedly worked for the Stasi. A “Spiegel” editor (Dagmar Manzel) and a provincial journalist (Uwe Kockisch) engage in a race for possible files, vague rumors and the better story. As a precaution, Landers is taken off the air.
The screenplay was written by Spiegel reporter and multiple Egon-Erwin-Kisch award winner Alexander Osang, based on his novel of the same name, and directed by Matti Geschonneck – both of whom won awards for “Die Nachrichten.” The film is a co-production of ZDF and Network Movie, Hamburg. Producers: Jutta Lieck-Klenke, Dietrich Kluge. The film was supported by Filmförderung Hamburg. Caroline von Senden is the editor at ZDF.
