Katharina Wackernagel, Benjamin Sadler and Stephan Kampwirth search for love and justice in a time between war and peace.

In the post-war summer of 1945, the British army of occupation has set up its central administration on a peninsula sealed off from the mainland. Medical orderly Gesa (Katharina Wackernagel) works here in a laundry. Her lover Friedrich (Stephan Kampwirth), a former Wehrmacht officer, is interned as a prisoner of war on the mainland. Thick barbed wire and the cold waters of the North Sea separate the two from each other. Nevertheless, they dare to meet secretly in the high dune grass of the peninsula. But then Gesa falls in love with Captain Simon (Benjamin Sadler), a British officer of German origin. On the night when Gesa wants to confess her love for Simon to Friedrich, a fateful incident occurs: Gesa and Friedrich become involved in the murder of an English soldier. Friedrich is suspected of murder and faces the death penalty. When Simon is assigned to solve the crime, he has no idea that the accused is his fiancée’s former lover.
