Directed by Helmut Metzger, the Katie Fforde adaptation “Katie Fforde: Dancing on Broadway” was made in New York and the surrounding area. Among others, Minh-Khai Phan-Thi, Thomas Unger, Tyron Ricketts, Angelika Thomas and Walter Kreye were in front of the camera for the ZDF “Herzkino”.

Broadway dancer Skye Rhodan (Minh-Khai Phan-Thi) doesn’t want to accept that she won’t get a job next season because of her age. The audition for a musical by choreographer Ryan Lessiter (Tyron Ricketts) – her ex-boyfriend – is her last chance. To prepare perfectly for a test performance, she hires hotel pianist Michael Tandsom (Thomas Unger) as a repetiteur. He is to help her rehearse in the barn behind the restaurant of her adoptive parents Fanny (Angelika Thomas) and Matt (Walter Kreye) in the picturesque town of Poughkeepsie. The widower agrees, but only if he can bring his two children. Skye and Michael grow closer. Then Skye’s mother, Fanny, suffers a breakdown. Although Skye now has to help out in the restaurant, she doesn’t give up her dream of a dancing color role. Not even when her ex-boyfriend Ryan suddenly shows up.

“Katie Fforde: Dancing on Broadway” is the 28th film in the series. The series is produced by Network Movie Hamburg, Jutta Lieck-Klenke, Sabine Jaspers. Verena von Heereman is the editor at ZDF.
