The dear relatives – lawyer Stella Sheridan (Wanda Perdelwitz) suddenly has a visit from her mother (Michaela May), who was jilted by Stella’s father after 40 years.
With all the balls provincial lawyer Stella Sheridan has to juggle, even a multitasking talent would get dizzy. A prestigious case demands Stella’s full commitment, and on top of that, long-term boyfriend Josh (Robin Sondermann) wants to get right into wedding planning after his marriage proposal. Mother Barbara’s tears of heartbreak are the final straw: freshly dumped, she demands not only love and attention, but also a place at Stella’s side in the bedroom. But as we all know, friction also creates closeness…
Despite studying at an elite university, lawyer Stella Sheridan has not landed in a stylish law firm, but is literally stuck in cow dung with her rubber boots. Her client portfolio consists of stubborn farmers, and her cases revolve around tractor damage and the quality of breeding bull semen. It’s only when she lands the mandate for a local politician’s high-pressure custody battle that the tide seems to turn. But Stella’s mother Barbara threatens to put a spoke in her career wheel: She shows up at Stella’s door with bag and baggage because her husband Stanley (Andreas Schmidt-Schaller) has left her for his younger fitness trainer (Aléa Figueroa) after 40 years of marriage together. Soon she has driven Stella’s fiancé Josh out of their shared bedroom. As the lawyer’s daily life becomes increasingly unhinged, Stella’s chaotic sister Maddie (Kristina Pauls) also travels from New York to offer sage advice on parental reconciliation. After Barbara has had an affair with Stella’s opposing lawyer (Robert Herrle), the second place in Stella’s bed is only vacant for a short time: Josh has long since left, but now her repentant father Stanley is at the door.
