The KDD team investigates the murder of a police captain. On the Polish border, unknown persons had been stopped by a patrol car for excessive speed and had then shot the police officer. Witnesses saw a minibus and testified that there were foreigners in the bus, possibly refugees from Africa. When the vehicle is found empty in a Hamburg parking garage, Lisa Brenner (Barbara Auer) and Yannick Kruse (Christoph Letkowski) make their way to a refugee shelter run by Olga König (Maja Maranow), an old friend of Lisa. There Lisa talks to the traumatized Syrian Odile Bakri (Pegah Ferydoni), who was admitted to the shelter the day before with her young daughter. Before Lisa can call on Odile again, she is found in the woods by the KDD team – murdered.
A few days later, Lisa Brenner is questioned by the internal investigation. She has killed a suspect – and there are indications that this was not done in self-defense. The events come to a head, and the “Nachtschicht” team doesn’t have much time.
Other roles are played by Özgür Karadeniz, Robert Palfrader, Mona Pirzad, Rainer Bock and others. As with all previous “Nachtschicht” thrillers, the book is by Lars Becker, who also directs. “Nachtschicht” is a ZDF commissioned production by Network Movie Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH & Co. KG, Cologne; producers are Bettina Wente and Wolfgang Cimera. Daniel Blum is the ZDF editor.
