“Death of a Policewoman” is the story of a reckoning. Director Matti Geschonneck and author Magnus Vattrodt tell the story of an ex-commissioner who is caught up in his past and of a criminal serving time for murder who, believing himself to have been wrongly convicted, escapes from prison and embarks on a vendetta. At first, right and wrong seem clearly distributed, but then a young policewoman encounters inconsistencies.
After the success of “Liebesjahre” (Goldene Kamera 2012, Grimme Preis 2012) and the judicial drama “Das Ende einer Nacht,” director Matti Geschonneck continues his collaboration with author Magnus Vattrodt with “Death of a Policewoman.”
The screenplay was based on a draft by Bernd Lange.
A top-class ensemble is in front of the camera for the crime drama: Götz George plays a retired chief inspector who engages in a thrilling chase duel with Jürgen Vogel as an escaped prisoner. Other leading roles are played by Uwe Kockisch as George’s ex-colleague and Rosalie Thomass as a young policewoman.
“Death of a Policewoman” was produced by Network Movie Cologne, with Wolfgang Cimera and Silke Schulze-Erdel as producers. The editorial staff at ZDF is Reinhold Elschot and Stefanie von Heydwolff.
