The fifth case in the ZDF series takes Schleswig detective superintendent Jana Winter (Natalia Wörner) and her colleagues to a nunnery just outside the city. There, Richard Brandner (Walter Kreye), the owner of a medium-sized company for ship engines, has been killed by a mysterious fall from the convent church tower during a christening ceremony for his granddaughter Pauline. Forensic experts and coroners soon agree: the fall from the tower was neither an accident nor suicide. Someone wanted to kill Brandner. The investigation focuses on the dead man’s family, especially Franz Heidenreich (Alexander Beyer), who had been stripped of the power of attorney for the family business by his stepfather shortly before. Lena Brandner (Annett Renneberg), the eldest daughter, also comes under suspicion. She lives in the convent where her sister Corinna’s (Henriette Richter-Röhl) child was to be baptized. Serious suspicions arise there as well. Little by little, Jana Winter begins to find her way into the closed and strange world…
As in the previous four films, Natalia Wörner again acts in this case as a detective and mother of a small child in Schleswig. Wörner is joined by Martin Brambach, Ralph Herforth and Friederike Linke. New to the cast is Max von Pufendorf, who joins the team of investigators as a new detective. Other roles are played by Annett Renneberg, Henriette Richter-Röhl, Alexander Beyer, Peter Kremer, Walter Kreye and Gudrun Landgrebe.
The screenplay was written by Daniel Schwarz, Thomas Schwebel and Jonas Winner, and directed for the fifth time by Judith Kennel. The “TV Movie of the Week” is a production of Network Movie, Hamburg. Producers: Jutta Lieck-Klenke, Dietrich Kluge. Daniel Blum is the editor at ZDF.
