Hannah (Silke Bodenbender) has her life firmly under control. The single mother has two great kids, she teaches at a Hamburg high school and takes care of her demented father (Rolf Becker). And she’s lucky: one day, the man of her dreams is standing in the middle of the teachers’ lounge. The new colleague Bernd (Matthias Brandt) – a real ladies’ man – wins her heart and that of her children. She falls head over heels in love. But behind the obliging and charming manner hides a hot-tempered character. Bernd snaps more and more often without any notice, even hits her. But his excuses are believable every time – he will change. When Hannah realizes his true face, it is too late: she is raped by him. Instead of keeping quiet, she goes to the police. Bernd is sentenced and has to go to prison for two years.
On the day Bernd is released early, Hannah’s real nightmare begins: he terrorizes her icily and systematically every day – driven by revenge fantasies for his destroyed life. The threat gets bigger and bigger. Bernd will not stop until he is finished with her.
