When art dealer Egon Wallin (Peter Andersson) is found murdered in his gallery after an opening, Robert and his team are initially faced with a puzzle: the perpetrator had attached to his victim and destroyed a valuable painting that had been stolen from a museum shortly before: The Dying Dandy. Other stolen paintings are found in the gallery’s archive – no question, Wallin was involved in the illegal art trade. His partner Hugo Malmberg (Johan H:son Kjellgren) claims to have known nothing about it, as does Wallin’s wife Monika (Marika Lagercrantz).
Directed by Marcus Weiler, the film once again features Walter Sittler and a prominent ensemble of German and Scandinavian actors such as Sólveig Arnarsdóttir (“The Duo”), Paprika Steen (“The Feast”), Frida Hallgren (“As in Heaven”), Inger Nilsson (“Pippi Longstocking”) and many more. Clemens Murath wrote the screenplays. “Der Kommissar und das Meer – Der sterbende Dandy” is a production of Network Movie, Hamburg. Producer: Ilona Schultz. Klaus Bassiner and Wolfgang Feindt are the editors at ZDF.
