A summer evening at 5:30 p.m.: As the after-work mood spreads in Hamburg, Detectives Bo Erichsen, Paula Bloom and Teddy Schrader of the Criminal Investigation Service (KDD) start their night shift. No sooner do they arrive at the office than Paula and Teddy have to go out on their first assignment: Rosa Perez, a young woman from a housing estate for the socially disadvantaged, is threatening to kill herself because she feels neglected by her boyfriend Floyd Kim. To make matters worse, the bailiff Gottfried Blechmann clears out half of her apartment. The investigators do not yet suspect that much bigger problems will soon be coming their way: Rosa’s neighbor Randy Schlosser, who also becomes acquainted with the bailiff, grabs him without further ado as a hostage in order to rob a nearby bank.
