A long-standing tradition, popular with viewers and makers alike, was continued in 2016: On October 1, 2016, Filmfest Hamburg 2016 screened Lars Becker’s latest “Nachtschicht – Ladies First.” The film was shown simultaneously at 11:30 p.m. in CinemaxX 3 and CinemaxX 2.
“Ladies First” – The 14th case of the ZDF cult crime series “Nachtschicht” by Lars Becker. The quintet of actors Barbara Auer, Armin Rohde, Minh-Khai Phan-Thi, Christoph Letkowski and Özgür Karadeniz once again embodies the team of the Kriminaldauer-dienst (KDD).
Chief Inspector Erichsen, 60, (Armin Rohde) and his colleague Kruse, 35, (Christoph Letkowski) drive on a cold winter night to the scene of a spectacular car crash.
A brand-new Ferrari is stuck in the ditch. The other car involved in the accident is a 20-year-old Honda Civic. Emma Graf, 35, (Nora von Waldstätten) a single mother and nurse, stands sullenly in front of her demolished Honda.
Jacky Herbst, 45, (Jürgen Vogel), owner of the Ferrari and accident partner, is a mega successful entertainer and comedian, a pseudo-feminist macho who propagates the crisis of the man.
With the help of his windy manager Leo Strootmann, 50, (Henry Hübchen) and especially his co-driver Holm Brülls,50, (Anatole Taubmann), who takes the blame as the supposed driver, Jacky is able to leave the scene of the accident.
But before that, he drops a “bombshell”: They had been shot at. Up on the bridge he had seen the sniper.
An exaggerated joke by the crazy comedian? No way! A few hours later, Holm Brülls is dead. Shot in the toilet of the theater. Who is targeting comedians here and why?
The investigation reveals that the case also appears to be connected to a rape and suicide victim, coma patient Carlotta, who is in Emma Graf’s ward of all places. Chief Inspector Brenner (Barbara Auer), clamps down on the old case.
The other roles are played by prominent stars such as Jürgen Vogel, Henry Hübchen, Nora von Waldstätten, Anatole Taubman, Aurel Manthei, Alexander Scheer, Sascha Reimann, Peter Heinrich Brix and others.
As with all previous “Nachtschicht” thrillers, the book is by Lars Becker, who also directs.
“Nachtschicht – Ladies First” is a production of Network Movie Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH & Co. KG, Wolfgang Cimera, Cologne. Daniel Blum is the editor at ZDF.
