A pair of desperate young lovers rob a bank, flee to a liquor store and take hostages. Among them: Emma and Kasper. Robert Anders suspects a third accomplice – and fights against time as a civilian is critically injured.
Panic reigns in a shopping store in Visby. The armed gangsters Isabel and Said demand that their hostages hand over all their cell phones. Emma secretly keeps one so that she can keep Robert informed of the situation by text message. Said notices this, suddenly a shot is fired. Emma is covered in blood, but it is not hers. The man next to her, Lukas, was hit. Emma feels guilty for the escalation. Said and Isabel escape via the freight elevator and disappear on a motorcycle. A mistake, because via the license plate Robert and Thomas get on their trail after a short investigation, but do not know where the two could be. Due to Said’s Lebanese origin, a political motive is not ruled out.
The lovers are hiding in a small fishing hut on the beach. Said was also hit by a bullet while fleeing, is bleeding heavily and has no strength left. Isabel is on the verge of losing her nerve. They discuss Isabel going to the “guy” who “got them into all this.”
Robert seeks out Isabel’s parents, an upper-middle-class couple who say they have never heard of Said. Isabel, he says, is an exemplary student, and after graduating from high school she wants to study at an elite university. There is no place for a relationship there. Especially not with a Lebanese lumberjack. When Isabel returns to her lover’s hideout by the sea, he is dead.
In the 22nd case of the series, Robert Anders is up against it. Will he manage to save his family and find those who have exposed them to the greatest danger?
