Vera Lanz is the chief inspector of the Munich homicide squad:
A policewoman who is correct and reserved in dealing with suspects even in the face of inhumane crimes, responsible and in control in any storm. Close to the victims, compassionate and with good powers of observation.
An attractive woman with a deep faith, with needs and small vices, with private life and a lover. Life-affirming, downright hungry for life.
But Vera Lanz is also a person with a past, with a dark and deeply hidden chamber of the heart. What she lives with, what she comes to terms with, what she does not talk about. She wants to uncover the background of her husband, who was shot in the line of duty – which often influences the way she works.
Katharina Böhm embodies Vera Lanz and thus plays the title role in the new ZDF crime series “Die Chefin”. Alongside Katharina Böhm, Stefan Rudolf and Jürgen Tonkel are in front of the camera as Vera’s colleagues from the Criminal Investigation Department, Stephan Kampwirth as the public prosecutor and many more. In addition to the prominent main cast, many familiar faces will also be seen in the episode roles: Fritz Karl, Juliane Köhler, Alexander Held, Inka Friedrich and others.
Maris Pfeiffer and Michael Schneider will direct two episodes each. The scripts are penned by accomplished crime writers Orkun Ertener (“KDD – Kriminaldauerdienst”), Sven Poser (“Kommissar Stolberg,” “Stralsund”) and Daniel Douglas Wissmann (“Der Tote am Strand”).
“Die Chefin” is produced by Network Movie Film und Fernsehproduktion GmbH & Co. KG (producer Wolfgang Cimera, producer Susanne Flor). The editor in charge at ZDF is Günther van Endert. Filming will last from May 31, 2011, until probably August 8, 2011. Initially, four episodes are planned, to be broadcast on Saturdays at 9:45 pm.
