“SOKO Hamburg” investigates murder cases and crimes across the states of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Lower Saxony. Its cases range from Ratzeburg to St. Pauli, the port of Hamburg and the Alte Land region, all the way to Kehdingen and Dithmarschen. That’s why the SOKO’s commissioner’s office is not located in a fancy new building in Hafencity, but in an old brick building on the outskirts of the city in Finkenwerder – right on the Elbe, the lifeline of the three northern states. And since the river is often the fastest way to reach the widely scattered crime scenes, the commissioners have a speedboat at their disposal at all times.
As unifying as the river they live on is, as different are the criminals along the course of the Elbe: Hamburg businessmen and apple farmers from the Altland, well-to-do “Speckgürtel” residents and old-established neighborhood hoodlums. In order to track them down, it takes an equally versatile team, a squad with a knowledge of human nature and team spirit, up to the challenge.
The team consists of chief inspector and team leader Jan Köhler (Mirko Lang), the chief inspector with profiler qualities, Lena Testorp (Anna von Haebler), the experienced police officer Oskar Schütz (Marek Erhardt), the IT-ler Cem Aladag (Arnel Taci) and the research ace Maria Gundlach (Kathrin Angerer).
